Long Rest

“A long rest takes at least 24h that start after a night rest and end after the next. In which the characters can feel comfortable and safe in their current environment (Safe haven) and do not have to engage in combat or similarly strenuous activities. They may not use more than 8 hours to work on crafting or other work/hobbies they may have during that time”

Some players can voluntarily guard a place so others feel safe and only the other players get the long rest. But should they feel endangered (enemy breaching inside the stronghold or similar) their rest has been interrupted and needs to start again.

(Optional, if using my Alternative Death rules) recovers all levels of exhaustion

The duration of certain spells such as Magnificent Mansion can be extended as they are high level enough and should be reasonable

Short Rest A character can take a 0.5h short rest during the day. Each time after that will take twice as long as before (1h, 2h, 4h,..). This resets after a Night Rest

Once per day in addition to the normal short rest features a spell caster can prepare 1 different Spell than before. Night Rest A “Night Rest” takes 6h of sleep or 4h of meditation and can only be done once per day. A character that does a Night Rest gains the benefits of a short rest as in the original rules.
